Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling us at (208) 452-7950 during business hours or by submitting a request through our Book Appointment page. New clients should also complete our New Client Form before their first visit to help us get to know their pets better.

Do you accept walk-ins?

To give every patient the attention they deserve, Snake River Veterinary Center primarily sees pets by appointment. However, if your pet needs urgent care, please call ahead — we’ll do our best to fit you in as soon as possible.

What should I bring to my pet’s first visit?

Please bring:

  • Any previous veterinary records or vaccination history
  • A list of your pet’s current medications or supplements
  • Details about your pet’s diet and behavior
  • Your completed New Client Form

These details help our veterinarians provide thorough and personalized care from the start.

How often should my pet have a wellness exam?

We recommend annual pet wellness exams for most adult pets. Puppies, kittens, and senior pets may benefit from more frequent checkups to track growth and age-related changes. Routine pet checkups help detect potential health concerns early and keep your pet feeling their best.

Do you offer vaccinations and parasite prevention?

Yes. Our Pet Wellness Care services include customized vaccination plans and year-round parasite prevention. Our team tailors each plan based on your pet’s age, lifestyle, and exposure risks.

What types of large animals do you treat?

We provide large animal care in Fruitland, ID and surrounding communities for cattle, horses, goats, and sheep. Our veterinarians offer on-site farm visits and haul-in services for routine, reproductive, regulatory, and emergency care.

Do you offer emergency care for large animals?

Yes. Our veterinarians provide after-hours and emergency services for large animals. Visit our After-Hours and Emergency Services page for information on how to reach our on-call team.

What should I do if my pet has an emergency after hours?

For small animal emergencies, we partner with VetTriage Emergency Care — a 24/7 live video consultation service. A licensed veterinarian will assess your pet’s condition and determine if immediate care is needed.
